Because you’re a business and not an individual – which means that your potential liability is much greater. It’s the same as your homeowners insurance – if you run your business out of your home and don’t have commercial insurance and your house burns down, no part of your commercial busines will be reimbursed.

Well, it depends. I don’t like to give that answer, but it is the truth. Every business has different risks and considerations. With a small business like this, you may be able to add some endorsements to your homeowners insurance. There are endorsements that add specific liability (like for having customers at your home) and others that cover you business assets. That said, you may still want to consider a commercial policy for just your business as they typically offer more coverage for your business.
Start with your existing insurance agent; the person that sold you your homeowners can help you make decisions about what coverage you need. Before you do, make a list of all of your business assets (mostly the big ones) and create a description of what you do for your business. Think about all the people you interact with in the line of business. Discuss this with your agent.
Good Luck!

When it’s required by a contract that they have, or when they have an auto owned by the corporation. Or if the auto is business use.

Good question… Can I ask what type of biz? if you are a corporation and have bought the cars in the Corp name, you will want the named insured(corp name) of the policy to match the registration… You may also want higher limits of uninsured motorist coverage because you may not have work comp.. In the event you are injured while driving by an uninsured motorist, your health benefits may not be enough. You may also need and want what is called non-owned and hired auto coverage.. This is liability for a vehicle you dont own or ons in which you hire/rent.. Remember, an employee driving his/her own vehicle on company time puts YOU at risk. This smal coverage can be a life saver and is only avail on a comercial auto policy.. I would switch from a personal to commercial no matter what.. The price chnage isnt that much
